I started the journey of writing this book approximately 2 years ago after God spoke the vision for it into my spirit. It was not the first time that He spoke "Vision" into me. Matter of fact, God shares the plans and purpose that He has for me quite often. But He always leaves it up to me whether or not I am going to obey. After discovering the scripture, Jeremiah 29:11 and studying and understanding the depth of it's meaning...why wouldn't I obey? The central theme throughout the book of Jeremiah focuses on reminding us that we are all born with a purpose and as long as we stay focused on God, despite any opposition that we may encounter; you will prevail in fulfilling your God ordained purpose.
Don't get me wrong, by no means am I remotely suggesting that this is easy to do because nothing can be farther from the truth. If I am being honest with you and myself, at times it can be an almost insurmountable task to look fear in the face and keep moving forward! Lord knows I know this feeling all too well! But, it was during my most challenging times that I was reminded about the promises of Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." WOW!
What does it mean to surrender all? The process of surrendering to God is in reality the process of tearing down thought patterns (strongholds) that keep me from yielding to God. In II Corinthians 10:5, it tells me exactly what I am doing when I surrender to God:
“I am destroying speculations, and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and I am taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus.”
The truth of it all is that as God's creation, I was not put here on earth to fend for myself. It was not until I discovered this reality, and started to believe it, that I am able to surrender every facet of my life to Him. This is no easy task and one that requires me to work on every day, all day. Because if I don't my thoughts will start to take over and I am no longer trusting God to see me through the struggles and challenges of life.
Recently, I sat down with one of my spiritual mentors to discuss this very topic. Take a listen as my special guest, Maura Gale, Actress, Author, Spiritual midwife, and motivational speaker, had a candid and revealing conversation about what it means to "Surrender All" in your life. You will be blessed!

On August 28th, the movie "War Room" was released in theaters nationwide. What's so special about this? I'll tell you, although the movie was showing in fewer theaters than its counterparts it was successful in skyrocketing to the #1 spot in the box office during it's first week of release! This relatively small budget movie ($3 million production), courtesy of brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick, took in $12.6 million over the four-day weekend. The film has earned $27.9 million and, if projections are accurate, it just may be the biggest hit of the Kendricks’ careers, outperforming Courageous (2011, $34.5 million) and Fireproof (2008, $33.4 million).
What is it about this movie that has people rushing to the theaters to see it? WAR ROOM is a compelling drama filled with humor and heart that explores the power that prayer can have on marriages, parenting, careers, friendships, and every other area of our lives. Simply put it is a movie about the power of prayer and the role that it should play in our lives. Truth be told, while I was sitting there with my husband watching the movie, I can remember thinking to myself, WOW, that's me!
Frankly speaking, I am thrilled but certainly not surprised that brothers, Alex and Stephen Kendrick made a movie about prayer after all they are the award-winning creators of such faith-based films as Fireproof and Courageous. The brothers are however ready to admit that "We didn't wake up one day wanting to make a movie about a 75-year old woman's prayer closet, we asked God to order our steps and the ideas came. As filmmakers, we're laying tracks before a moving train, said producer/co-writer Stephen Kendrick. The other half of this dynamic filmmaking team, Alex Kendrick said, "We want to inspire, challenge and motivate families to not just react but plan through the right kind of battles--and to use the best resources possible."
WAR ROOM is about fighting the good fight and relying on the right resources to do it!
For me this movie confirmed something that I already knew and that was that PRAYER is one of the most powerful and transformative tools that a believer can use to "War" against the challenges and negative life circumstances that we face on a daily basis. To be transformed means that you are changed from the inside out. That spoke volumes because it confirmed the fact that you can't change others but what you can do is change yourself and let God work on the rest! In other words, stop trying and surrender!
Do yourself and your family a favor and go to see "War Room" and I promise you that you won't leave the same way you came!
Lately, I have been reminded about the power of our faith and how just a little (the size of a mustard seed) can open up doors and windows of opportunities that you would have never imagined? For instance, who knew that after getting laid off from my job of 13 yrs. back in 2012, that I would be blogging and hosting a successful nationally syndicated blog/talk radio show with over 35,000 listeners not to mention that we are on iTunes! Who knew that this wife and mother of 2 would be blessed with the opportunity to reach and serve the community in this way? The answer to this simple, yet thought provoking question is "GOD KNEW!" .
God always has a plan. He had the journey for our lives already mapped out and it is up to us to follow the path that He has laid before us. Proof of this can be found in Jeremiah 29:11 that simple states: "For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, and to give you a future and a hope." The challenge then becomes, "How do we then follow the plans that God has for us?" I can tell you that being obedient plays a major part in being able to accomplish this task. How so? In my case, once I heard from the Holy Spirit that God wanted me to use my layoff experiences (yes, I have been laid off more than once in my professional career) to inspire and uplift others by creating this blog (BTW He even gave me the title), it was up to me to take action. This is where many of us fall short and therefore, we miss out on the windows and doors of opportunity that God has opened for us.
Once you make the decision to be obedient and act on the plan that has been laid before you, it is time to trust and rest in His peace. When God anoints you to do something, you will have a peace about it. If He brings you to it, he'll get you through it! So don't worry about whether or not you are good enough or are even educated enough to carry out the task at hand because again I say, when God orders something, He pays for it!
