Wow! I can’t believe that it has been a year since I was laid off from my job
and a year since God anointed me to start this journey! And guess what? I’m still okay! The best way that I can explain this is by saying that when God anoints you to do something, He will give you what you need and then equip you with the tools that you need to get the job done. I am still so appreciative and grateful that God trusted me enough to give me the vision of being able to use my journey through the experience of being laid off to bless others. That told me that He saw something in me even when I didn’t see it in myself.
You know how that is, sometimes we have to learn how to get out of our own way and stop being our own worst enemy. With that said, I believe that one of the main reasons why I was finally able to see the anointing that was placed on my life and ultimately then receive the vision, is because I made a conscious choice to
take responsibility for the areas of my life where I fell short and to stop making excuses as to why my life wasn’t what I thought it should be. In doing so, it enabled me to not only grow closer in relationship with Him but it has also afforded me the opportunity to inspire and empower others to do the same.
Once I accepted the challenge from God to seek GREATER for my life, I realized early on that if this journey was going to be successful and be everything that God envisioned it to be, then I had to totally submit my will and lean on Him to get it done. In other words, I had to be willing to be obedient to God’s will for my life and acknowledge it and allow Him to direct my path. OUCH! This is usually where it gets tricky. Because if you are honest, most of us (including me) only wants to give God partial or part-time obedience when He asks us to do something or we start to
question Him. Understand and know that it is not for us to question what God does but we are to simply
believe beyond reason that everything that He does has a reason! That reason is always for our good.
As I mentioned earlier, when God anoints us to do something, He will give us what we need and then equip us with the tools to get the job done which also includes the people that He will lead us into what I call “divine relationships” with. Because I truly believed that these people were in fact now sharing this journey with me through God’s connection, I was willing to learn from them which meant that I had to humble myself and stay in my lane and rely on their expertise and experience in areas outside of my anointing. For this reason, I am willing to sit in the back seat and let someone else drive from time to time, while I learn and grow from them. After all, we have all been united together through God’s anointing to carry out this journey and where there is unity, there is blessing!
I don’t want you to get the wrong picture, because even though God has blessed and provided for me and my family over this past year, it has not totally been without trial and tribulation. But the difference has been that through it
all, I have never lost sight of the fact that God is ultimately in control. It has been during these tough times that I have grown the most and relied on Him to sustain us through whatever challenge we are facing. The way I look at it, if you don’t past the test the first time then you will have to take it again until you do.
In addition to being tested from time to time, I have enjoyed every moment of this journey which has not been without a lot of hard work and perseverance on my part. It has also meant that I have had to oftentimes step outside of my
“comfort zone” to take the journey to the next level. It is in those times when I feel the most uncomfortable or vulnerable that I have leaned on God the most and I am happy to say that He has not failed me yet! As I look back over this past year, I would not change a thing! By the way, it’s true, time really does fly when you’re having fun!”
